WESTOVER HILLS

Planning for Westover Hills, which runs south from the James River to Forest Hill Avenue and east from North Riverside Drive to Southcliff and Cedar Lane, began in 1924, as postwar residential construction gained momentum around the city. The completion of the Boulevard Bridge, which linked South Richmond with Byrd Park and shortened downtown commutes, helped fuel Westover Hill’s early home sales. Construction in the sprawling neighborhood continued through the 1960s, though, and the styles on display in its approximately 800 homes is wide ranging. Among them are Tudor Revival, Craftsman, Colonial Revival, Cape Cod and Ranch.
